Quimica del Nalon (Nalonchem) took part yesterday in the inauguration of the IX “Margarita
Salas” Science Week, organised by the newspaper La Nueva España, with an
interesting programme of sessions with the
participation of outstanding national and international researchers, such as
Beatriz Roldán Cuenya, member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Quimica del
Nalon, researcher at the Fritz-Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society and
Paul H. Emmett Prize in Fundamental Catalysis of the North American Catalysis
Society.
The lecture series -attended by Rufino Orejas,
president of Quimica del Nalon- was opened by Juan José de Damborenea González, research Professor at
CENIM-CSIC and honorary member of the European Corrosion Federation, with the
title “Metallic materials and
sustainability“.
On Tuesday 16 April, the lecture by José Luis Simón Gómez, professor of Geology at
the University of Zaragoza and winner of the Aragón 2022 Environment Award,
entitled “The human impact on the planet from a “Society of dis-knowledge”.
On Wednesday 17 April, lecture by Ignacio López Goñi, professor of
Microbiology at the University of Navarra and winner of the CSIC-BBVA
Foundation Award for Scientific Communication 2021, with “Global Health:
The new strategy against the environmental threat”.
On Thursday 18 April, lecture by Susana Acle Olivo, head of Veterinary and
Research at the Bioparc Aquarium in Gijón. In 2023 she was named one of the 50
most influential people in the world in the zoo and aquarium sector by Blooloop
magazine, with the conference: “Aquariums of the 21st century: A commitment
to biodiversity”.
The closing conference, on Friday 19 April, will be
given by Beatriz Roldán Cuenya, member of the
Scientific Advisory Board of Química del Nalón, researcher at the Fritz-Haber
Institute of the Max Planck Society and Paul H. Emmett Prize in Fundamental
Catalysis of the North American Catalysis Society 2022, entitled “Liquid
Sun: How to make green fuels”.
Also, on Wednesday 17 April, at the Palacio de
Congresos in Oviedo -and only for students with invitation- the conference
“Discovering the Scientific Police, much more than a television
series” will be given by Cándida Vicente Templado, head of the Provincial
Scientific Police Brigade of the Superior Police Headquarters of Asturias, as
part of the Programme for the Promotion of Scientific Vocations.
