We are an Asturian, family chemical company which has operated with sound business values since 1943.
Internationalised, innovative and a leader in the foundry coke and carbochemical sectors, we aspire to be a leading chemical company in terms of circularity and to be a reference for the development of the best solutions for our customers based on talent, innovation, entrepreneurship and flexibility.

We conceive quality in its broadest sense: products, processes and management as the main attributes of solvency on which we base our business competitiveness. Our efforts in the development and implementation of this policy have allowed us to certify our integrated management system in accordance with the UNE-EN-ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards for the production scope of foundry/metallurgical coke, production of derivative products of tar distillation (pitch, naphthalene and oils) and logistical activities.

We transfer our policies to our value chain by applying principles of quality, prevention, the environment and efficient management.

INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

Driving forward continuous improvement

We define sustainable development in a comprehensive way as the creation of economic, environmental and social value in the short, medium and long-term which serves as the basis for the progress of our stakeholders, customers, suppliers, shareholders, employees and society.

Quality

Our efforts in developing and implementing our policy have allowed us to certify our quality management system in accordance with the UNE-EN-ISO 9001 Standard for the following activities:

Production of foundry and metallurgical coke

Production of derivative products from tar distillation

Handling and storage of tar (Industrial Química del Nalón Polonia, Sp. z o.o.)

Environmental certificates

We are especially aware of our obligations to the environment. The future is constrained by the most appropriate response to environmental demands and our strong commitment in this regard has allowed us to have our environmental management certified, since July 1998, in accordance with the UNE-EN-ISO 14001 standard for the production centres of Trubia and Sama de Langreo and the logistics centre in Szczecin and San Juan.

Occupational health and safety

In line with the Occupational Risk Prevention Law, we have implemented a proactive occupational risk prevention system to ensure occupational health and safety conditions with the aim of integrating them into our global management of the company with the goal of zero accidents and zero occupational diseases.

Since 2003 we have had certification for our centres in Trubia, Sama de Langreo and San Juan de Nieva
(Occupational Risk Prevention Management), with certificate number 18001.06209.

In 2005, this same certification was obtained for our logistics centre in Szczecin
(I.Q. Nalón Polonia, Sp. z o.o.), with certificate number NC-1293.

Corporate social responsibility

We actively contribute to ethical and responsible development in all our fields of action in accordance with our mission for our stakeholders. We are subject to wide-ranging, demanding audits and assessments, such as that carried out by Ecovadis, an entity of recognised prestige in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility, which assesses corporate policies, initiatives and achievements in areas related with the environment, employment practices, fair trade practices and supply chain to suppliers from 110 countries belonging to 150 different sectors.

EcoVadis has ranked us amongst the Top 4%, which includes the best companies of the total of those assessed, with a score of 64/100 and which constitutes the gold rating, highlighting that we are above the average for the companies evaluated (42.4%).
